  1. Mallards are ubiquitous over here in the U.S. pacific northwest. Mating pairs regularly take up temporary residence at my apartment complex every year. They are not fearful of adult people, but they don’t like children very much. I’ve been watching them closely and have observed Mallards flocking with – and sometimes attempting to mate with – other duck species such as Pintails. Occasionally, I see hybrid individuals having mixed markings. In eastern North America, Black Duck numbers are falling due to hybridization with Mallards.

    Thanks for the info Robert! Still not the most common bird in the World( have forgotten which species that was, shall write about it tommorrow!)
